The 3rd Challenge was a pimped out version of the 2nd Challenge. The 3rd Challenge involved the Technophobe (My friend Harjyot) taking a picture of himself and sending it over to me vie Email on the E75 also containing a map of the location at which the photo was taken. My friend Harjyot opted a photo with a Sepia effect to give a touch of nostalgia to the photo. This was done intentionally as the photo was taken right outside our tuition centre and it would remind us of the fun we had at the place.

Here’s the photo:

And here’s the map:

Shaikh Isa ave, Manama City

LG GD900 Crystal Review-GSMArena

When talking about good design it’s usually all about placing the right elements in the right places. And in the rare cases when an R&D team actually comes up with something innovative, they usually reserve it for a 2000 buck handset like the Motorola Aura. The LG GD900 Crystal and its see-through keypad, however, prefers walking among the mortals to sitting on mount Olympus and drinking ambrosia.

And luckily the sleek handset is much more than a pretty face. The rich feature set of the GD900 Crystal places it only a short step away from LG’s multimedia flagships. However the lack of GPS is easily made up for with cool features like gesture shortcuts and multi-touch input. Sure, these may seem like fancy additions rather than key features, but sometimes it’s all about winning the hearts of the users rather than their minds. And the Crystal seems pretty well designed to do that.

Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO Review-GSMArena

Samsung are not quite the standard-setter in communicator devices but are obviously keen to have their say. Playing catch up seems well in order for a debut but we guess someone here is set to play for keeps. The Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO is a generously spec’d device that’s poised to tackle the best in the class and even raise the bet. While sheer size and scope confine it to a niche, the Samsung communicator might be just the right option for those served by that niche.

Having acquired a pre-release sample of the side-slider PocketPC we are squeezing in a short preview, introducing its most important features. The chunky bloke does give a decent first impression, but handling will be the ultimate test. For starters, let’s look at the key items on the Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO’s balance sheet.

The new iPod Touch is said to come with a Camera and Microphone and even built-in Skype software. Sources say that Apple has already begun manufacturing the new range of iPod Touch models in China’s factories. The new features of the iPod will boost it’s sale tremendously. iPod Touch already has many features not available on other devices so having a camera and a microphone only makes the device better.

The 2nd Challenge was tougher than the first challenge. But it wasn’t too tough and I say the challenge was quite interesting. the challenge involved the trainee (My Friend) taking an interesting picture with the Nokia E75 and emailing it to his Coach (Me). The picture should be one which creates an interesting response. Well my partner knew the drill and so was able to do it quite easily. The only problem he faced was what picture to send. Finally I think he did a good job on the picture.

Many other participants have also completed their 2nd Challenge while some are still doing it.

This is the picture chosen by my trainee/partner:

HTC Magic Review-GSMArena

A cool looking touchscreen carrying a new mobile OS was enough to get the attention of even the most hardened of them techies last time we checked. Fair enough, the HTC Magic isn’t groundbreaking but the Cupcake-ful of changes it brings, promise a whole new experience.

Well, for starters the Android sure looks more human. The formidable and weapon-like G1/ HTC Dream needed every ounce of weight to stand its ground. With an honestly lighthearted and disarming approach, the HTC Magic is willing to play by the conventional touchscreen rules. And may as well be eyeing massive sales. Compact dimensions and distinct styling, decent all round functionality and system expandability, the HTC Magic seems to have what it takes to keep both smart and feature phone touchscreens on edge. The second edition of the OS should have dealt with the issues of the forerunner and given the Magic that extra bit of pace. So, what do you call a good platform getting better and a gadget looking more mainstream but still creative enough? We call it good sense but who knows, it may be Magic.

Now the 2nd Challenge is on and my partner and I are working together on completing it. I will post update on the 2nd Challenge as soon as it is complete.

Here’s the instructions sent to me for the 1st Challenge by WOM World. This picture will give you a better idea on what the Challenge was about.

Samsung Fold-Out Keyboard Concept

samsung-patents-fold-out-keyboard-0

Well now Samsung has patented a new fold-out keyboard design for phones. The phone in the patent appears to be a touchscreen phone with which the keyboard is most suitable. The keyboard then drops down from both the sides of the phone and reveals the QWERTY keyboard.

The keyboard looks like wings and must looks even better in real life. this design helps to save size as the keyboard comes out only when required and also does not spoil the looks of the device.
